And so it begins

Parker started Kindergarten this Wednesday. It was a day of much anticipation and I confess I kept waking up to look at the clock.

For the past 2 years Parker has been asking when he would get to ride the school bus that drives past our house almost every morning and afternoon. So Wed. morning with backpack and lunch box packed and armed with our epi-pens and benadryl we walked to the bus stop. After Parker was on the bus, he waved until we were out of sight and then Meadow and I hopped in the van and followed him to school.

We beat the bus to school and waited for him to arrive and then we walked him to his class. Hugs and brave smiles all around. Only when I got to the Office to drop off the epi-pens and benadryl did the tears sneak out. It couldn't be helped. I saw another Mother with a second grader doing the same thing and she gave me a hug and said it's going to be all right. Other mothers with Kindergartners nodded knowingly and blinked a little faster than normal and there were even some sympathy tears from a wonderfully kind office lady.

Meadow and I had a peaceful day and It seemed very quiet around here without our sweet and boisterous fella. I knew he was in good hands. He had a great day and he must have behaved himself very well too because he had all of this pent up loudness and energy exploding from him once he got home. lol.

so awesome!! It is very tough sending your kids off that first few weeks. Great idea to let him ride the bus and meet him at school!

I got a little teary dropping off Aydan a few years back, and pretty worried too. But, she is just doing great.

BTW - the school counselor says the first few weeks of school they are behaving so well and trying so hard at school that some of their manners and patience will likely slip at home. good luck with that! :)

Can you believe that you have a kid in school already? I swear just last week we were couching dancing at the Cary building...

Aww! The first day is tough. The first month or so they are so tired, but it gets better. At least you'll get him back every nine weeks throughout the year!

Cute pictures!

Wow...time flies! Parker looks cute in all his Star Wars gear. He will love school...and I think year round school doesn't sound too shabby.

I just teared up reading this. I don't even want to think about sending Lyla to school. Why can't they still have 1/2 day kindergarden?

That's awesome! I remember when Kaden started Kindergarden. I walked him to class and waited till every last kid was in and the door was closed before walking away. I couldn't believe it, my baby was in kindergarden. Now he will be in 1st grade! He's dying to ride the bus that stops in front of our house everyday. I'm a little nervous about that, so I too will probably follow behind to school, just to make sure all is well! He will be in school all day and it will be a little weird not having him here. Thou the 3 hrs he was in school this last year there was some peace and quiet! Enjoy your quiet time!

I love the bus pictures! I had the exact same feelings on Wednesday with David. Can this really be happening? I checked the clock about every 25 minutes during the day and then I hugged him so much when he got home he asked me to stop. I can't wait for track-out!! We'll have to get them together then to play.

Holy flashback tears, Batman. I discovered that the best thing about my little guy leaving was having one-on-one time with my little girl. See how I'm playing the Glad Game for you?
