Parker and the giant squash

Here is our pay load squash and only squash so far. There were several smaller squash growing also, but they disappeared! We keep seeing two little bunnies in the yard so they probably ate them and couldn't carry off the giant squash? I need to put some chicken wire up I guess.

It tasted pretty good to us, but Parker spit it out and Meadow wouldn't touch it. I did read online that yellow squash is supposed to be tastier if you pick it younger which is why you probably never see giant yellow squash in the grocery store.

The Apex 4th of July festivities included some face painting, bouncy houses, train rides etc. Parker asked with the tears starting to please wipe off his tiger face 3 minutes after Greg's parents paid $7 to get it painted (see my gray hair?!) but Meadow liked her $2 flower.

Showing our patriotic spirit

Bike Parade at Noon that we have not made it to yet. We try to go early to beat the heat and the kids are done after an hour or two. We'll try for this next year, it looks fun.

Heather, I didn't know you had a gray hair - how long has that been there? And, I like the patriotic Chucks.

Sorry I missed out on the fun, but I was pretty busy with my own fun. Email me or call me, and we can go over some bloggy stuff.

That last comment was me, Ali. I guess my mom was still signed in to her email.

Alice, I have had a streak ever since I hit my head pretty hard on the corner of the stereo playing circus with my brother when I was 8 but it is definitely much wider and noticeable now so I can't blame it all on that anymore ;)

But really I am Rogue from x-men in disguise all of these years. hehehe

Have you tried "Irish Spring" soap in your garden? Apparently it's supposed to keep away the critters. My parents are trying it right now, so I'll let you know how it works.

Meredith, I would love to know if that works! Definitely worth a try, thanks! :)

The squash is a beauty! Your fourth of July looked like fun. That's funny that Parker didn't want to keep his painting on. Children always make events more interesting:)

We didn't make it to the parade and party this year, it looks like it was super fun! and p.s. can you send me that pic of your garden for our ward gardening blog? I'd love it if we could share that!!
